Tours are the perfect complement to studying Spanish as they incorporate not only adventure – imagine white water rafting, canopy ziplines, & river cannyoning; learning about another culture - envision a traditional sugarcane & cacao or coffee tours, pre-Columbian pottery & gold pieces at the National Museum, and typical dances; but also ecology and biodiversity- picture seeing first hand monkeys (3 kinds!), scarlet macaws, crocodiles or sloths (2 or 3 toed) all in their natural habitat whether that be a tropical dry, rain or cloud forest.    Costa Rica offers all the aforementioned and more in the landmass the size of West Virginia.

The variety is enormous: after morning Spanish at CPI Heredia, visit the unique Poas or Barva volcanoes, venture through the lush forest in the Braulio Carrillo National Park, learn about the harvest and processing of Arabica coffee during the Café Britt tour, or journey into the capital of San Jose to see the impressive National Theater or learn about the historical and socio-economic development of Costa Rica at the National Museum.  While at our Monteverde campus hike in the majestic cloud forest reserves (if you are lucky you will see the Resplendent Quetzal!), view the spectacular sunset over the Nicoya Gulf, immerse into rural culture at the Trapiche sugar farm tour, and zip along the treetops in the canopy tour.  CPI Flamingo is all about blue water and white sand beaches!  Visit any number of local, tropical beaches (Flamingo, Potrero, Penca, Conchal), take surf classes in Tamarindo, sail along the Pacific waters in a modern catamaran (cocktails & Latin music included), observe sea turtles nesting or visit a dry forest at Rincon de la Vieja Volcano – these are just a few of your coastal options while in the Flamingo area.

Week-ends afford the opportunity of overnight sightseeing tours to explore Arenal Volcano, the Tortuguero canals along the Caribbean coast and Manuel Antonio National Park – all top rated destinations which are included on most bucket lists!
