Spanish classes at CPI Heredia are scheduled Monday through
Friday, 4 hours of class per day.
Students are placed according to level based upon a written exam and oral
interview. The maximum class size is four students per class. Small class
size makes for optimum learning as students receive specialized attention
from their professor.
Classes concentrate upon grammar and conversation, the necessary elements
for communication. Professional vocabulary and practice interviews are also
introduced during the first week of morning classes. After classes there
are optional cultural activities, such as: Latin dance class and cooking
class.
During the second week afternoon Spanish classes remain concentrated upon
grammar and conversation; however, special focus is placed on relevant professional
vocabulary, client dialogues as well as the important elements of multicultural
awareness.

"My two weeks in the Social Work Seminar program in Costa Rica was a life changing experience that no words can describe. The integration of gramar and seminar classes in relation to social work combined with volunteer work in a local poverty stricken area really tied together all elements of social work: theory and practice. I feel more equipped to communicate and develop a positive rapport with Latino/a clients, and I have a better understanding of the diversity of challenges faced within this community. Thanks CPI for my memorable visit and making my time in Costa Rica fulfilling and rewarding!"
